Stoic Power

Privacy policy

Effective October 10, 2026

Stoic Power ("we") is a setback journal for iPhone. This policy says what the app keeps, what it sends, to whom, and how to delete it. The short version: your journal stays on your phone; the words of a setback leave it only when you ask the coach to answer, and only after you've agreed.

What stays on your phone

Everything you write and do in the journal: your setbacks, when they happened, the frames you chose, the grades you give yourself, how a setback sits with you over time, your moves, morning rehearsals, evening reviews, which lessons you've read, and your settings. It is stored on your iPhone only. We have no copy, and it is not backed up to our server.

What goes to the coach

The coach is an AI: Claude, made by Anthropic. The first time the coach would answer, the app asks your permission. If you allow it, then each time the coach answers it sends:

It never sends your other entries, your grades, or anything that identifies you by name. The request goes through Stoic Power's own server, which passes it to Anthropic and passes the answer back. Our server does not store the words. Anthropic processes them to write the answer, does not use them to train its models, and keeps them only as its commercial terms and privacy policy allow.

You can withdraw permission at any time under You in the app. The journal keeps working; the coach stops being asked.

If an entry reads as a crisis, the app checks this on your phone and shows crisis resources instead. That entry is not sent and not kept.

What our server keeps

The first time the coach answers, the app makes an anonymous account on our server: a random ID with no name, email or phone number attached. For it we keep:

Our server runs on Supabase, in the United States. Like any web service, it keeps routine request logs, which include IP addresses, for a short time for security and operations. When the app starts it also checks which features are switched on; that check carries no ID.

Voice

If you tap the microphone, your voice is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition on your phone. The recording is not kept and not sent to us.

What we don't do

Deleting everything

In the app, open You and choose Erase everything. It deletes your journal and settings from your phone and deletes your anonymous account, with its daily counts, from our server. Deleting the app removes what is on your phone; to remove the anonymous account as well, use Erase everything first, or write to us.

Age

Stoic Power is for adults, 18 and over. It is not meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If what the app sends or keeps changes, for example if a later version lets you share moments with other people, we will update this policy before that version is released, and change the date above.
